Nanee

Privacy

Nanee’s full privacy policy is being written, and will be published here before Nanee is offered to families beyond its first testers. Until then, this is what Nanee collects today, and why.

About you, the parent

Your name, your email address and your password, so you can sign in. If you sign in with Google, the name and email address on your Google account. Your password is held by our sign-in provider, Supabase; Nanee passes it on when you sign in and never stores it.

About your child

The nickname you give them, the topics and note you choose for their lessons, which lessons they have started and finished, and a record of each lesson: when it was, how many times they tried, and whether they asked to hear a word again. Lessons store none of the strokes your child draws.

Nanee never asks for your child’s real name, age, photo, voice or location, and your child never has an account or signs in.

Who else sees it

Your child’s lessons are taught by an AI tutor from Anthropic. It is told what your child did in plain words (“tapped Done on the letter A”), whether an attempt matched, which lessons they have finished, and the topics and note you chose. It is not told your child’s nickname or your name, and it never sees what they drew.

Your account and your child’s progress are stored with Supabase.

DRAFT WORDING - NOT FINAL

We don’t run analytics or advertising on any page. We don’t use error monitoring yet; when we do, it will run only on parent pages and our servers, never on your child’s lesson screen.

On the iPad itself

While your child works, the iPad keeps a detailed note of the lesson, every tap and finger movement, in its own browser storage, so we can learn how lessons go. It has no way to be sent anywhere and stays on that device.
